About You

The Role
The Chair draws the Board together, ensures that appropriate governance is undertaken and is the support link between the Bureau Chief Officers and the Trustees.
As Chair you will represent the Bureau at public events and negotiate for funding where required.
You will take an active role as a Trustee within the Board, discussing, considering, and deciding on key impact areas in relation to the governance of the Bureau. Your experience from a business, management, finance and/or legal background will be well used and appreciated.
As Chair you will make a valuable contribution to the aims of the Bureau, so that local people do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities, or of the services available to them, or through an inability to express their need effectively.
In addition, you will influence and contribute to the development of social policies and services to help and support the public.
There are 5 Board meetings per year to commit to as well as preparation time and regular collaboration /communications with the team and stakeholders.
About Us
The Bureau, located on Musselburgh High Street, is open Monday to Friday as well as providing outreach services. There is a drop-in service for general advice, delivered by a team of dedicated and highly skilled employed and volunteer staff, such as specialist money/finance, benefit, and employment advisers.
