A response from CAS to the Low Pay Commission.
Citizens Advice Scotland welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Low Pay Commission‟s consultation on the national minimum wage. Bureaux across Scotland report of young clients who are not receiving the national minimum wage, apprentices who are not being transferred into full time employment due to the higher wage rate, and clients who are not being paid their wages at all. In April 2009, 242,000 jobs in the UK were paying below the national minimum wage, 58,000 of these were jobs held by young people under the age of 22
