The Network Services Officer provides support and advice to Citizens Advice Bureau (CABs) across Scotland and is the main liaison for CABs with Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS).
Our Organisation
The Citizens Advice network in Scotland is the largest independent advice service in the country. Citizens Advice Scotland is a charity within this network – we act as a national organisation supporting and representing the service as a whole and the interests of citizens. At the heart of the network there are 59 individual citizens advice bureau across Scotland, all operating as independent charities in their own right, which focus on providing support and advice directly to clients. Each of these organisations is a member of Citizens Advice Scotland. We believe that every citizen should have access to free, impartial and confidential advice that helps them make informed decisions, whenever they need it and however, they choose to access it.
The Role
You will work within the Network Services Team reporting to Head of Network Services.
You will help CABs across all Scottish communities to help themselves, being inspired by their actions, supporting them, and offering them guidance and opportunities for initiating social change and making improvements to their own communities through their services.
The team also provides vital assistance in the distribution of key messages, the implementation of project co-design and production with CABs and monitoring the progress of the CABs.
Basically, we help CABs to build better lives in communities. You’ll firstly be responsible for understanding the issues affecting CABs, assessing the situation and devising ways for supporting their work. Then it’s all about discussing how and where these CAB needs and aspirations can be met, devising strategies, considering budgetary restrictions, and then working with a range of different organisations and CAS Officers to prepare and implement projects across our network.
This postholder will have responsibility for a portfolio of CABs across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Highlands, and Moray, working closely with CABs to strengthen governance and management structures.
