More about the job

About the job

Angus Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent and innovative advice organisation providing holistic advice and support to local people. We are looking for an enthusiastic and client-focused individual with experience of providing advice on issues such as fuel poverty, welfare benefits and housing to join us as a Warm and Well Project Caseworker.

The Warm and Well project provides specialist help and support to elderly and disabled clients on energy and income-maximisation matters throughout Angus. This involves visiting clients in their homes to ensure they get the help they need. Working alongside volunteers to provide the service, this role will also involve assisting the Volunteer Training & Development Officer in recruitment, training and retention of Warm & Well volunteers. Due to COVID-19, the project has been providing remote assistance to clients in the main whilst the role is carried out through a mixture of office and home-based working, however, we are keen to return to home visits when deemed safe and appropriate.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate relevant recent experience and knowledge of the wider welfare benefit system including Universal Credit. Applicants should either have knowledge of methods to support fuel poverty and give energy advice or a willingness to learn and develop their knowledge to provide the best possible support to vulnerable clients. Applicants should also demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, be well organised and be proficient in using a range of IT tools to carry out their work, including Microsoft Word and Outlook. Committed and supportive to the needs of others, the successful applicant will be able to work both on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
