More about the job

About the job

Citizens Advice Bureau West Lothian are looking for a suitable experienced adviser to focus on the reduction and prevention of child poverty within the West Lothian area. The successful applicant will work with appropriate clients and with a number of partner agencies to provide a comprehensive financial inclusion and income maximisation service to families where there may be a risk of child poverty.

In addition, the adviser will also be responsible for the provision of a financial health check service for vulnerable families and older people as part of the Scottish Government funded Money Talks project and will deal with referrals from within the bureau and from referral partners throughout the West Lothian area together with referrals from the Money Talks national helpline.

We are looking for a client-focused individual with experience of providing holistic financial inclusion and income maximisation advice. In this role you will use telephony and email as well as seeing clients face-to-face at first point of contact to ensure they get the advice, information and support needed.

To succeed, you will need relevant experience and knowledge of current welfare benefits together with the ability to analyse the client’s overall financial position and offer early intervention advice and support.

You will have strong oral and written communication skills. We are also looking for a proven ability to work effectively and be well organised. Proficiency in using a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including case management systems, online forms and Microsoft Office applications is essential.

Committed, results-driven and supportive to the needs of others, you will be able to work well within a team and have a willingness to follow and develop agreed procedures.
