About the job

The prime function of all paid posts in the bureau is to support the organisation’s volunteer based generalist advice and representation service and to contribute to national and local social policy development activities.

The target beneficiaries of the will be the economic casualties of the COVD19 pandemic who have debt & financial capacity problems due to reduction in income, with many experiencing such challenges for the first time in their lives.

Many of the target clients will have debt issues requiring debt advice and also suffer from fuel poverty, a lack of access to key financial products and an inability to engage with mainstream CAB services as a result of their “ignorance” of the services available to them.

The COVD 19 Debt Crisis Advice Project (DCIP) will sit within the new Stirling CAB Legal Service & will be readily available to the economic casualties of the pandemic, many who have just realised that the circumstantial changes have left them poor financial skills, low incomes and personal debt.

Support will be provided via the “Virtual CAB” and clients would be spotted & referred to the (DCIP)  by all staff & volunteers who initially engage with service users, to triage that their advice needs, to maximise income, tackle the immediate presenting crisis & make an internal referral to (DCIP)  to resolve their indebtedness. 

The COVD 19 Debt Crisis Advice Project (DCIP) will be located within the Stirling CAB Legal Service will assist debt “casualties” of the economic impact of COVD19 in reduced circumstances in the funding period via debt resolution casework and financial capacity building - Minimum Asset Program, Pro rata repayment proposals, Compassionate write off & signpost for Protected Trust Deeds and the Debt Arrangement Scheme.
