CAS response to the Insolvency Service's call for evidence on regulation of Insolvency Practitioners

CAS are concerned that the current regulatory regime has not had enough focus on consumer protection, particularly around the mis-selling of Protected Trust Deeds. Our network often sees people who have been sold protected trust deeds that were not suitable for them or whose trust deeds have 'failed' leaving them worse off than they were before. CAS believes that the current system of regulation of insolvency practitioners is no longer suitable and that a new independent regulator should be put in place that can effectively deal with consumer protection issues.
