Briefing for the Stage 1 debate on the Scottish Civil Justice Council and Criminal Legal Assistance Bill

CAS welcomed the introduction of the Bill as well as the intention to appoint Council members using the standards of the public appointments procedure but expressed concerns over three key aspects: policy, functions and composition.
