CAB fundraising round Britain row - an update

An update on CAS colleague Laura Plumb's fundraising challenge for the network.

We brought you news recently of Network Services Manager Laura Plumb's plans to embark on a row around mainland Britain to raise money for the network. Laura had planned to depart at the beginning of June but was significantly delayed because of the poor weather. Now, sadly, Laura and the rest of the Counternavig8 GB crew have decided to postpone their epic trip until 2025.

Laura said:

The Counternavig8 GB crew could not set out because of the terrible June weather.  The delays have meant that other commitments risked being affected and we have decided to postpone.  We are all gutted.  However, we are confident that it is the right thing to do.   We have watched other crews out on the water at the moment and they have had to spend almost half of their time on board, stationary and sheltering from the unseasonally strong winds. We are determined to complete the trip around Britain ‘the wrong way’ in one go and unsupported, so waiting is the best option at this point. On a positive note we now have extra time to build on our strengths as a crew in terms of rowing, navigational skills and being a lovely bunch. Not to mention continue fundraising for the network.  When we do go, we intend to smash it!

Thank you so much for all your support it has meant the world to me.

Laura and all of us at CAS extend our thanks to everyone who donated. The fundraising effort will begin again in earnest next year, and all donations made so far will remain in the pot until then. However, if you would like your donation to be returned, please email Laura Plumb including your donor name and donor email address.

We will bring you updates on the crew's progress as they plan for their rescheduled trip and you can continue to follow them on their social media channels. We wish Counternavig8 well for the coming months and hope for better weather this time next year so they can undertake their challenge.
