The post is funded by the Scottish Legal Aid Board to increase access to justice and prevent homelessness.
The adviser will be involved in providing an advice and representation service to people at court or at risk of going to court.
Driving licence and access to own transport essential as home visits to disabled or housebound clients will be required.
The successful candidate will be subject to disclosure through CRBS (PVG Scheme)

The Citizens Advice Service was first established in East Lothian in 1978.
Over the years it has grown to deliver services including projects for specific client groups (specialist debt advice, mental health, patients of GP Surgeries, migrant workers and people threatened with eviction/homelessness or in fuel poverty.)
In 2011, the Bureau achieved accreditation to level III of the Scottish National Standards in Information and Advice.
Through a small team of core and project staff and 30 highly trained and committed volunteers, Haddington CAB provides a free, confidential, independent and impartial service to the citizens of East Lothian on a wide range of issues including:
- Debt and money
- Welfare Rights
- Consumer issues
- Immigration
- Employment and workforce problems
- Housing
- Relationship and family issues
- Discrimination
- Health services
- Legal rights & responsibilities
The charity is a trusted and well respected organisation. It enjoys high levels of client satisfaction and the excellence of its training programme is widely recognised. Its volunteer workforce and paid staff are fully committed and strive, with limited resources, to provide quality assured advice sought by thousands of clients each year.
