Parkhead CAB is seeking applications for suitably experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join our staff team.
Citizens Advice Bureaux have 2 aims, to:
• Provide advice and information to ensure people can claim their rights.
• Campaign on the basis of evidence to advocate for policy and legislative change to improve people’s lives.
The 8 Glasgow Citizens Advice Bureaux have an exciting new social policy project which aims to build the capacity of Bureaux to campaign and advocate to address the root causes of problems faced by CAB clients. The project will employ 2 people: a Social Policy Officer and a Communications and Campaigns Officer who will work across the Glasgow Bureaux and with Citizens Advice Scotland staff on national and local campaigns and influencing initiatives to advocate for legal and policy change to improve people’s lives. The new social project is looking to recruit 2 people with the skills and experience to:
• Recruit, train and support dedicated social policy workers in the Glasgow Bureaux
• Design and undertake local campaigns to address issues of financial inclusion and benefit take up
• Gather, analyse and document the evidence of client issues to support local and national advocacy and campaigning
• Develop, implement, evaluate and document a model of building capacity for social policy work that can be rolled out across 59 members of the Scottish Bureaux Network
The successful candidates will need to demonstrate, initiative, innovative ideas for campaigning and advocacy, excellent communication skills, understanding of working with volunteers and a commitment to the values and principles of the Bureaux network.
Both posts will be managed by Parkhead Bureaux, but work will take place across the 8 bureaux and those employed must be prepared to visit each CAB regularly. The posts are for 2 years in the first instance with the plan to make the posts permanent in the future.
