Stirling District Citizens Advice Bureau Ltd is now interviewing for volunteer advisers for our Autumn 2022 recruitment intake.
Due to the impact of the pandemic and the escalating cost of living crisis there has been a substantial increase in the demand for advice from members of the public all over Stirling district. Stirling District Citizens Advice Bureau Ltd is therefore now seeking to recruit volunteers to train as advisers.
What does Stirling District Citizens Advice Bureau Ltd do?
Stirling District Citizens Advice Bureau Ltd offers free, independent, impartial and confidential advice to the public on a wide range of subjects. Examples of regular issues we receive enquiries on include: welfare benefits, money and debt; housing; employment; immigration, consumer and energy issues; relationship and family issues and legal matters.

Who can volunteer with the Stirling District Citizens Advice Bureau Ltd?
Anyone can volunteer. You don’t have to come with formal qualifications or a vast amount of knowledge. Our training will help you become a confident adviser or receptionist with a constantly updated information system to work with.
And because we always want our staff to reflect the community they serve; we hope people of all ages and backgrounds will be interested in finding out more about volunteering with their local CAB.
Volunteer advisers:
The training comprises fourteen Friday morning taught sessions on zoom and 30+ online modules. Once the training has progressed volunteers will be expected to come into the Bureau to shadow other advisers for at least 3 hours per week. We are looking for a minimum time commitment from trained advisers of 6 hours per week delivered either on one full day or two half days per week advising the public. The advice service is open from 10am – 3 pm Monday to Thursday.
Delivery of Advice
At present advice delivery by our volunteers is focused on telephone and email advice. This is principally delivered at our premises at Norman MacEwan Centre, 3 Cameronian Street, Stirling, Fk8 2DX. However, flexible working arrangements also give advisers the option to work remotely from home. When suitable, safe interviewing facilities are identified we will also be returning to face-to-face appointments.
When does the next volunteer training course begin?
The CAB adviser training program advisers starts on Friday 16 September 2022.
