    Citizens Advice Scotland announces that the meeting scheduled for 23rd November 2016 for members to vote on governance changes will be rescheduled. The purpose of the changes is to bring CAS's governance arrangements into line with recognised best practice for a membership organisation and a charity in receipt of public funds.

    Research by Stirling CAB found that national assistance funerals, carried out by local authorities when no family can be traced for the deceased or the family are unable to make funeral arrangements, have increased by 24% in Scotland in the past four years. The report, Unmarked - National Assistance Funerals and the Consequences of Funeral Poverty, has been published today.

    Scotland’s Citizens Advice service gave 1 million pieces of advice last year, helping over 310,000 individuals – equivalent to over 1 in every 14 adults.

    The service also put a total of £120m into the pockets of Scottish citizens, though improving their financial health by helping them to access benefits entitlements and manage debt effectively. This helped some to avoid crisis situations like poverty, debt and homelessness.

    One of my earliest recollections of experiencing unfairness was playing Monopoly as a child with my brother.  When picking out our counters, I would always want to be the racing car - because what eight year old wants to be an old leather boot?  My brother however, without exception, would claim the racing car as his own.  When I would try to protest, he would remind me that he was the older brother.  He got first choice.

    The Scottish Government Home Energy Efficiency Programmes (HEEPS) include loans to owner occupiers and private sector landlords in Scotland who want to improve the energy efficiency rating of their property. A HEEPS loan is interest free. There is currently a special offer for eligible applicants to receive a grant of 25% of their quoted costs.
